This map focuses on records that can be reviewed and assigned an approximate public map location. Numbered circles group nearby records and separate as the map is enlarged.

Important: This interactive map currently shows individually documented U.S. incidents and detection records that have approved public map locations. It does not show every official bee-related public-safety record, and it does not indicate that a dangerous colony remains at a mapped location. International records and larger official totals, such as national health records or fire-service response totals, are summarized separately on the Official Records Map and context page and are not shown as one map pin per case. Map points are intentionally approximate unless the record identifies a public location. Of 372 total research records, 261 currently have approved public map locations. Other records may be pending map review, intentionally excluded as duplicates or placeholders, or awaiting a suitable approximate location.

How to use the map:Click or tap a numbered circle to explore grouped records. When several incidents share the same approximate location, the markers spread apart so each record can be selected. This does not mean the incidents occurred at that exact spot. Select any colored marker to view its details.

Marker center colors describe incident outcomes. Outer rings describe what is known about bee identification. A neutral identification ring does not mean the incident was safe or less serious. This current cumulative estimate extends the published national bee-specific annual average through the latest completed calendar year. It is an estimate, not a newly measured count or a collection of public case files that can be turned into individual map pins.

The interactive map above shows the smaller case-level layer: incidents Honey Bee Awareness has been able to reconstruct from public sources with enough information to show a general location and the details of what happened.

The underlying national study covered nonfatal, unintentional, non-work-related ER cases only. It does not include fatal cases, work-related cases, or incidents that never resulted in ER treatment. See the national U.S. bee-injury data and calculation.
