HoneyBeeAwareness.org is being built as a public-safety, education, documentation, and research-awareness project focused on serious bee-related incidents, highly defensive colony behavior, responsible beekeeping, and the preservation of gentle, manageable honey bees.

Why This Page Exists

No single website can cover every part of honey bee science, biology, colony health, genetics, nutrition, pest management, pollination, removal, public safety, and beekeeping education.

The resources below are included because they may help readers learn from experienced researchers, educators, beekeepers, extension programs, government agencies, and honey bee health organizations.

Dr. Jamie Ellis — University of Georgia Bee Program

Dr. Jamie Ellis is a honey bee scientist, educator, and beekeeper who returned to his alma mater in 2026 to lead the University of Georgia Bee Program. His work includes honey bee biology, colony health, pests and diseases, Africanized bees, pollination, beekeeper education, and public outreach.

Before returning to Georgia, Dr. Ellis founded and directed the University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory and helped build it into a widely respected research and education program.

Dr. Thomas Seeley is the Horace White Professor Emeritus in Biology at Cornell University. He is widely known for research and writing on honey bee behavior, swarm biology, nest-site selection, social decision-making, and how colonies function as superorganisms.
